"Our Polk County"

Sesquicentennial Anthem

In eighteen and fifty-five the county of Polk was born.
Beginning a bright new day, like a fresh and sun-filled morn.
In honor of Columbus Mills, the county seat was named.
In the shadow of White Oak Mountain,
The town from forest was claimed.

Chorus:

Let's raise our voices with cheer,
Be thankful for our bounty.
For a hundred and fifty years,
Thanks God for our Polk County

Blessed with long and flowing rivers, the Pacolet and the Green
And trees and farmlands grand, make a picturesque mountain scene.
Protected by the beautiful mountains, blessed with creek and waterfall.
A good place to raise our families, a rich heritage to recall.

Chorus:

Let's raise our voices with cheer,
Be thankful for our bounty.
For a hundred and fifty years,
Thanks God for our Polk County

It is our solemn duty, to protect this beautiful land.
To help our children's children, we all must lend a hand.
This legacy is our charge. With honor and integrity,
We can march into the future, and be proud of our history.

Chorus:

Let's raise our voices with cheer,
Be thankful for our bounty.
For a hundred and fifty years,
Thanks God for our Polk County
